“because it’s Good”
Why do we do what we do? There are many reasons. I have bills to pay. I have mouths to feed. I have expectations I want to manage. Of myself and of others. I want nice things. I want affirmation. I want to be right. I want to be respected. To be responsible. To be accepted. I don’t want disease. I want to be healthy. I want to be faithful with what I have been given. I want to honor my family. I want stability for my family. I feel “called.”
When Terri Woods answered my question of “what keeps you going? why do you do what you do?” her answer was in words, but in those words, there was a force that I felt physically. Immediately it rang true. And I understood. Instantly I craved the farm, the chores, the smells, the animals, the sights, the sounds, the space, the hope. The goodness. I got emotional. I held back tears. Her answer was “because its Good.”
I’d be lying if I told you I’m sure I’m cut out for farm life. I’d also be lying if I told you that I even really know what farm life is. But there is a deep drawing to it for me. And I don’t think I’m unique in that feeling. People are longing for goodness in life. In our work. In our homes.
Some of you may be thinking, “but Taylor, are you telling me that I can only find goodness if I’m on a farm?” No, I’m not saying that. But, perhaps, I am saying that it is easier to find there. Let us not forget we started in a garden.
Morgan and I hope you enjoy this interview with Terri Woods. We certainly did.

Or is this the back of their property and those homes are neighbors?
So the next to last picture looks like a neighborhood. They have acreage, right? If that is their place, have the grown kids homesteaded there, too?
