ACL Letter #17 - Morgan's Taking Over
New Podcast Out!
In this episode Morgan and I talk about me moving into a coaching/guide role and her moving more into the hand's on role with the garden. It all started after a conversation in the kitchen. We were sitting on our little brown couch discussing why we garden. After talking about her why, Morgan shared some of her sadness around not actually feeling the freedom to just go into the garden and get dirty. So we decided she needed to take a larger lead and have the freedom to plant what she wants, where she wants. I will still help with some of the logistics and provide insight on rotations, etc. but overall, she will be the one giving direction.
Since the beginning of our marriage, and even before, I have always been the one taking charge with the garden. Unfortunately, I've tended to lean towards control and micro managing the garden... Which has made it difficult for Morgan to relax and just enjoy. To not be afraid to mess up.
The truth is, it would bring me a lot of gladness to see Morgan take on the garden and have an outlet that brings her joy. I wouldn't mind taking a backseat with the garden forever, honestly. Philosophically we agree. We both want a blend of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We both enjoy the same foods. And the tasks that Morgan enjoys (repetitive, monotonous) are not the same tasks that I enjoy (logistical, prep).
So we will see how this goes. And we will keep you updated along the way!
