ACL Letter #14 - Freezageddon
The Winter Solstice and Our Garden
My last letter referred to our garden being in the "Glory Days of Winter". Well, those days have passed and we are about to enter into a freezing stretch. It looks like we will have 72 hours straight of freezing temperatures starting Thursday night. I guess its appropriate given that today is the shortest day of the year for us northern hemispherians.
I am going to do everything I can to keep our garden rolling. I'll use three layers of the floating row cover and will top the ends with quilts. I feel confident that majority of the crops will survive. A few of the more tender crops may not make it. I will report back next week with an update! Stay tuned.
